Three easy Ways to eat more Greens

We all know how healthy daily greens are, right!? But do we all eat them every day? I know it can be difficult sometimes, especially when working full time and when there hardly ever is time to cook. So today I want to show you three very easy ways to eat more greens on a daily basis.

Greens are health! They are the healhiest foods out there; they contain an array of antioxidants and other disease-fighting compounds that are very difficult to get anywhere else. Plant chemicals called phytochemicals can reduce inflammation and eliminate carcinogens, while others regulate the rate at which your cells reproduce, get rid of old cells and maintain DNA. Also, they have loads of fiber which keeps the blood sugar steady, lowers bad cholesterol, and ensures regular bowel movements by preventing toxic buildup in the digestive tract.

All vegetables are healthy but those with strong colors have the most antioxidants. Greens are especially healthy. So to make sure you get enough of them, here are three easy ways to include more of them in your diet.

1. Mix them into EVERY dish

I put greens into every dish: broccoli in bean chili, peas in tomatoe sauce, broccoli on pizza, string beans in the potatoe gratin. I just always make sure that there are some greens in whatever I cook. When you find a routine in just adding them into every dish, it really gets so easy to get those greens every day.

2. Make Lettuce Wraps

To include more raw leafy greens I love to make lettuce wraps. I make them with basically anything; pasta in lettuce, mashed potaoe in lettuce, lentil stew in lettuce, bean chili in lettuce, curry in lettuce etc. etc. etc. Just make sure to always have some lettuce in the house and eat a few leaves with every meal.

3. Drink Green Smoothies

And of course: green smoothies. They make it SO easy to eat more greens. I usually use either oranges or bananas as a base for my smoothie and I then add whatever greens I have; spinach, kale, greens from beetroor or carrots, basil, parsley, goutweed, nettles, danelion etc. I have one every morning before my oatmeal.

With these easy tips you can include greens into every of your meals, three times a day, without much effort and without even thinking much about it. Don’t you think :)?

Do you eat greens every day? Three times a day? Or do you have a hard time including them into your diet? I would love to know!

Acctually, we mix them into almost every meal. Green vegetables are my favourites, especially all kinds of kale. They fit in almost every meal we have and are great in smoothies as well 🙂 I also love the lettuce wrap!

Good tips. I’m highly-conscious of the health benefits of greens and other vegetables so I add them into all kinds of dishes, as you suggest. More nutrition is better than less.

OMG, you have to share the recipe for the first two dishes, they look SO delicious! I try to get green in everyday, but like you said, it can be difficult with a busy schedule, which is why I try to incorporate them into a one pot meal, it makes life SO much easier! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you’re having a great start to your week so far!

I eat a lot of veggies, but not necessarily a lot of green ones.. I need to eat more because they are so yummy! Peas are one of my favorites. The lettuce wraps sound really good.

Thanks for these tips, Larissa! I’ve always wanted to make lettuce wraps but haven’t gotten the time yet. Since fiance is a big meat eater, I’d still want him to have greens in his dishes so this might be a good idea. Hopefully after the wedding I can plan on making healthier food not just for me but for him as well. 🙂
