Did you know you can sleep better and deeper with the help of CBD oil?
Since we are currently facing some rather demanding times, having a good sleep is becoming difficult for many of us. Also, finding a peace of mind – be it at night or during the day – is a little bit of a challenge for many of us these days. This is why I decided to share a few thoughts on the advantages of CBD oil when it comes to better sleep and keeping a relaxed mind.
I’ve been actually sharing an article on night time rituals and some tips on how you can get a better sleep at night, just a few weeks ago. Since that article got quite a few reads, I decided to take up this topic again – this time with a focus on CBD oil.
What is CBD?
You may have heard about CBD already: cannabidiol (CBD) is an extracted cannabis oil that interacts with your endocannabinoid system. It is the most dominant and potent of the over 120 cannabinoids from the cannabidiol-rich hemp plant. It is extracted from strains that contain only a negligible amount of the psychotropic tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) cannabinoid which means that it will never ever produce any euphoric ‘high’ feeling typically associated with cannabis.
How can CBD help you sleep better?
CBD helps your body maintain a state of balance and stability. What I find especially intersting is the fact that CBD is used for treating patients with anxiety and other stress-related disorders. This is what makes it so intersting for the current times in which many of us are experience strong feelings of fear and stress.
In studies that I’ve read it was shown that CBD enhances the quality of sleep with most subjects reporting more than 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep. It is said that CBD works so well as it interacts with receptors, notably Gaba and serotonin receptors, which are involved in the regulation of our circadian sleep-wake cycle – the body’s internal biological clock responsible for the promotion and maintenance of sleep.
On the other hand it is said that CBD has both anti-anxiety and anti-depressive effects by calming the mind and, in turn, reduce overthinking; thereby helping to promote a faster onset of sleep. This is said to be mainly because CBD helps regulating our cortisol, a stress hormone.
How do I use CBD oil?
To take advantage of the power of CBD it is best to invest in an organic CBD oil with 5%-15% cannabidiol that you can take orally. When the percentage of CBD is lower, you may need more and when it is higher you may need less. The key to finding your ideal dosage is to start slow and dowse low. Start with some three drops of a 5% CBD or one drop of a 15% CBD. Apply it under your tongue and try not to swallow for a minute of two. See how you feel and if you don’t feel any effect, you can try one more drop tomorrow.
I usally have a drop of 15% CBD after dinner.
You can also vape or smoke CBD but I personally prefer to consume it orally.
Another great way to take advantges of cannbidiol is a CBD massage!
Since CBD has natural anti-inflammatory effects it can also be applied topically to soothe muscle soreness. In case you have issues falling asleep because of neck- or backpain, a CBD massage before going to bed could be just the right thing for you!
Especially people who suffer from chronic pain, arthritis, back pain, and so much more can reap the many benefits of a CBD oil massage. You might start to feel the effects within minutes and they can last for hours afterward.
You can easily blend your own CBD infused massage oil, by adding a few drops of a CBD oil to a carrier oil, such as almond oil. However, if you want to make sure to get the right relation between CBD oil and carrier oil, I recommend buying a ready made blend like the The Dreamer oil blend from Alpinols.
And how to find a good CBD oil?
Make sure to choose an organic and local product. Many producers source plants from overseas and don’t actually know where the plants have been grown – so make sure to go for branss that are 100% transparent about where their hemp comes from.
My favorite for almost a year now has been Alpinols. They only source their hemp from local Swiss hemp farmers and their entire supply chain is led by organic principles. Not only the hemp, but ALL the ingredients of their CBD oils come from Switzerland: starting with the planting of the cannabis plant, the enrichment of the CBD concentrate with Swiss organic sunflower seed oil, up to the filling of the vials.
I am using the 15% CBD oil with ZERO THC.
You can get 15% off your order at Alpinols when using the Code Rosa15
