My Cosmetic Essentials when Travelling

Today I want to share my cosmetic favorites when travelling. I actually have a few all time favorites which I bring whenever I travel. And I have a few new favorites that I got to love just recently.

I always like to keep my toilet bag small and to bring only a few products; so I try to limit myself to the basics that I really use every day. Here we go 🙂

I ALWAYS bring a soap that I can use for my face, body, and my hair so that I do not have to bring like three different products with me. Soap does (most of the time) come in a paper packaging which makes it easy to avoid plastic. For my trip to the Philippines, I brought my Organic Fiji soap which smells of pineapple and coconut – just the perfect scent for a holiday in the tropics. The soap is made from certified organic coconut oil. Coconut oil contains natural soothing properties and natural anti-oxidants to help the skin repair and protect itself from free radicals. Just perfect for stressed skin after a long day at the beach.

Travel Sized Face Care

Okay, this one does come in plastic but I truly did not want to bring my original sizes (which come in glass) because I wanted to keep my toilet bag small and light. So in this case comfort won. I brought travel sizes of my balancing fluid and my balancing toner from Primavera; two products that I use every morning. They helped me soooo much in clearing my skin and I do not want to make even a day without them. Even though I am in general not a fan of buying a bunch of things in travel sizes, because of the huge amount of waste, I have to admit that in some cases it really is awesome to have some of your favorite products in travel sizes.

Organic Sunscreen

When I am travelling to a destination like the Phillipines, I make sure to bring some non-nano particle, uncoated pure zinc oxide sunscreen. No chemicals, nothing that causes potentially skin cancer. Only non-nano zinc with some coconut oil and some shea butter. Thats it. I was soooo happy when I finally found a sunscreen this spring which actually lives up to my expectations. I love butterbean not only for their great ingredients but also for the fact that they come completely plastic free. This year I definetly found my favorite sunscreen ever.

I ordered the sunscreen through the plastic free online shop which also has my favorite deodorant and a bunch of really cool plastic free kitchen utensils.

By the way, I also use my homemade sunscren when I only spend a little bit of time in the sun or when I am travelling in countries which are not as close to the equator as the Philippines. You can find the recipe here.

I love to bring oil with me when travelling. I use a face oil at night and I use coconut oil and avocado oil as a nice aftersun treat. I use the oils to clean my skin, to massage my baby, to put it into my hair after a day at the beach, for my feet, for basically everything. Oils are so much more versatile compared to a body lotion and this is mainly why I prefer them. For my trip to the Philippines I brought a big bottle of avocado oil, a sample size of a face oil from Dr. Hauschka, a big jar of coconut oil and a small jar which I had with me on the plane (for lips and hands during the long flight).

What else did I bring in my toilet bag? Well, a mascara, a lipstick, an eyebrow pencil and some rouge – and thats it. What does your toilet bag look like when you are travelling? What are your essentials? I would love to know!

Have a great week ahead!

I like your collection. I don’t want to take to much with me either (but I usually do), so we basically end up with same things (minus the oils). 🙂

xx, have a great week 🙂

Great product choices! I cannot live without my skin care routine. So I bring all my skin care stuff when traveling. Usually I’ll buy travel sizes. Oh and dry shampoo. I NEED that stuff haha.

Great post, I would love to try this soap. Actually I was searching for some all natural soap and during the weekend I bought a soap from Aleppo, as far it’s really good, but I’ve been using it only for 2 days:) We had a really nice weekend with the family, went for a jog with the dog (so refreshing in this crisp air!) and we also picked some dog-rose fruits in the garden. It will be perfect for a healthy tea:) Have a lovely weekend, hugs:)))

All of these brands sound so wonderful, but I’m particularly interested in the SPF, it sounds amazing and I love the non plastic packaging, very unique! Thanks so much for sharing, beautiful, and I hope you have the best week ahead!

Traveling with your own soap is such a great idea! I despise the harsh soaps found in hotels and need to start incorporating this habit into my travel routine as well.
