Five DIYs to Prevent and Fight a Cold with Taoasis Essential Oils

Fall with all it’s rain, it’s storms, and it’s colds is here! This is why I thought it could be helpful to share a few DIYs for how to prevent a cold and how to fight one when it got you. I am sharing five recipes with essential oils from Taoasis that are all easy to blend together and that helped me personally a lot in the past!

I have to say though that I am not a doctor and not even an expert, and I do, of course, not give any promisses on how effective these treatments work for you! Also all recipes are made for adults and are NOT meant to be for children under three.

I have here some recipes that you can use on your skin, some that you can swallow, and some that you can just inhale. So there should be something for everone.

Please note that when buying essential oils it is of vital importance to choose high quality organic and natural oils. You will never have the same effect from non-natural oils! I rely on my essential oils from Taoasis that are 100% organic and natural – and of best quality.

I will start with one of the many magic essential oils I have at my place: Ravensara!

Ravensara is an essential oil that is super anti-viral and has strong powers in killing all kinds of viruses in the air. This is why I love to use it in my vaporizer – or in a spray to prevent viruses from getting me.

Here is the recipe for a simple anti-viral spray to keep your air clean and kill all potential viruses from your office/bed room/living room/car/closet/whatever:

An empty glass bottle with a spray head

50ml water

20ml strong alcohol (like wodka or gin)

20 drops ravensara essential oil

Blend all ingredients in the glass bottle and use as a room spray when needed.

My tip for you: spray your room spray in the low area of the room because all scents are rising! So when you spray your spray too high in the first place, it will rise just higher and you won’t get any advantage from it.

The ultimate Fight-Headache-Blend

Lavender and Eucalyptus are SO strong when talking about fighting a cold-related headache! What I do is that I just blend the two essential oils on my finger tips and I apply them to my temples and it works wonders!

Here is what you need:

1 drop lavender essential oil

1 drop eucalyptus essential oil

Add one drop of lavender essential oil to your middle finger and one drop of eucalyptus essential oil to your index finger, then rub the fingers of both hands against each other so that there is oil on both middle and index fingers. Apply gently to your temples on both sides.

My tip: you can also use a drop of lemon essential oil instead of lavender. This is especially helpful when you feel tired but you have to get some work done and need a clear head – the lemon essential oil will help you stay awake and keep your focus.

Oregano Syrup

This one is a top seller at my place and my entire family is nowadays using this recipe; because it is so strong and so helpful! When you feel like a cold is approaching, try this syrup!

Oregano is very powerful in killing viruses, bacteria, and fungal spores – it is that powerful, actually, that you should not use this recipe too often! Because it may also kill some good bacteria! Please only use this recipe the first day of feeling your throat scratch; the moment you are just about to get a cold. Use it once and just trust that sometimes less is more!

Here is what you need:

1 tablespoon agave syrup or honey

1 drop oregano essential oil

Blend both ingredients well together and take a small spoonfull – be careful, it’s spicy!

My tip: for a lighter version of this treatment, you can also try lavender honey/syrup: just add a drop of lavender to your spoonfull of syrup or honey and eat it carefully. Lavender is very powerful too, yet not as aggressive as oregano.

Teatree Tea

Most of us know Teatree right!? It does not have the best smell, but it is SO powerful! I use tea tree essential oil since I am a small child; whenever I had a herpes infection on my lips, my mother treated me with teatree essential oil, whenever I have a pimple, it’s teatree as well.

When you are having a cold and you want to get rid of it as soon as possible, this special tea will certainly help you!

In this recipe we actually drink the teatree essential oil:

1 cup hot water

2 drops teatree essential oil

1 teaspoon honey or agave syrup

Juice of one lemon

Blend all ingredients together and enjoy in small sips – feel free to insalivate carefully to the max out of this treatment.

And finally we have a sweet-smelling massage oil to make sure you will get well soon when laying home in bed. This massage oil will help you to relax, unwind, will take away some of your pain, and also help you get well soon. It’s a lot for the soul but does also come with active and powerful ingredients from the anti-viral lavender essential oil.

Here is what you need:

30ml almond oil

3 drops lavender essential oil

3 drops vanilla essential oil

2 drops orange essential oil

Blend all ingredients together well and apply the massage oil to your feet (yes!), breast and back.

My tip: massaging your feet with essential oils (blended with some carrier oil) is especially helpful since your feet will transport the active ingredients through your entire systeme! You can always use a drop of lavender, ravensara, eucaluptus or other essential oil, blended up with a spoonfull of almond oil and apply to the down side of your feet.

I hope you find this post helpful and I would love to know if you try any of these easy peasy recipes! Also, do you have any favorite home remedies when you are having a cold? Do you like to play around with essential oils or what is your best homemade treatment? I would love to know!
