Even though we are officially still in the middle of Spring, I feel like it is Summer already – I had my first (minor) sunburn, I see bare legs everywhere, and in the bloggersphere it is all about Summer too. So let me join in and share a few of my favorite Summer drinks with you.
Here we go with four drinks that I LOVE on hot days – they are all super refreshing and hydrating of course. They are all vegan and healthy, like all the recipes I share here on the blog 🙂
Lemon and mint are definetly the two most used ingredients in Summer drinks; for a good reason! There is nothing as refreshing than cold water with some fresh mint and freshly squeezed lemon juice. To add a little extra to this classic, I like to add a healthy syrup (make sure its low in sugar or without refined sugar) like this one here from Jomu.It is made from elderberries, lemon and a little bit of barley grass (which I really love!) and tastes verz refreshing and good. You can read more about the syrup right here.
Another one I love and which is also made with lemon and mint, is fruit infused water. I just put some (organic) lemon, mint and a little bit of ginger in a carafe with water and leave it in the freezer over night. The next day I have a really refreshing, wonderfully tasting water. You can of course also add all kinds of other fruits, such as strawberries, raspberries, pineapple, peaches and all kind of herbs such as basil or even dill, to make your healthy fruit infused water. Just make sure to let it sit over night so that the water can absorb the taste from the fruits and herbs.
Sometimes, when I need a little more “taste” than the fruit infused water (which has a very subtle taste). I just sqeeze lemon or other citrus fruit in some cold water. My favorite one is pink grapefruit. I just take a liter of water, cut a grapefruit in half and squeez it directly into my carafe or glass. I use a sieve to make sure the kernels are not falling into the water. Currently I have a liter of this grapefruit-water every day. Its truely sooooo good! You should definetly give it a try 🙂
And last but not least, I am sure most of you know coconut water. Coconut water is like everywhere right now and in the beginning I did not really get the whole craze about it. Yet, I got to try a few different brands recently and I also got to try some pretty good blends of coconut water with juice. One that I got to like a lot is a blend of 80% coconut water and 20% pineapple juice. You can of course mix this up yourself but in case you prefer a ready made blend, I can totally recommend the one by Voelkel. They have coconut water with nothing added too, but my favorite is the pineapple one. What I really love about all products from Voelkel is that they are producing fair products and they really care about the environment and about being a sustainable company. I have shown you their products between others back here and here and I am pretty sure there will be a few more posts to come including Voelkel products 😉
And now let me know – what are your favorite drinks for Summer? Do we have some common ones? I am thinking about making this a series, because I do actually have a few more drinks and smoothies that I really enjoy when its getting warmer… so maybe there will be another post like this up on the blog sometime later this Summer 🙂
Yummy they look great!!!

I love coconut water but it’s really hard to find fresh ones where I live. It’s one of the things I miss about living in Malaysia as fresh coconuts are sold everywhere.

What a great post, actually I was lookin for some inspiration for a fruit infused water yesterday and now I get another one:) Now I’m making ice tea, with hibiscus flower, mint and lemon:) But I also like to do no sugar lemonade and of course traditional polish “kompot” with every fruit I have. I dont add so much sugar in it though, we like natural taste of fruits:) I really want to do peach infused water or peach ice tea, I love peaches! By the way, I only have one of your comments, the first one I didnt get, weird… I wouldnt think of washing my face with black soap, interesting idea! I already use coconut oil to remove my make up thanks to you:) Have a wonderful weekend, hugs:)))
I have recently bought a fruit infuser water bottle to try and get me drinking more water and I’m loving trying all different fruits in it, my favourite so far though is lemon and ginger or strawberry and kiwi. I have been thinking lots about the relaunch but I want it to be 100% right before I do it. The thing I’m struggling to decide on most is a new name, as my blog is not just about fashion anymore I want something that is more personalised and don’t want to do anything until I’m dead set it is the right name. I’m a very indecisive person, ha ha 🙂 xx
First of all, totally loving your new lay out!!!! It looks incredible 😉 As do your ‘summer’ drinks.. Are you sure it’s still spring? It is scorching in NYC…

These are all such great ideas, Larissa! I love the way fruit infused water not only tastes, but how it looks, too! I think it’s so pretty and has a decorative look to it at parties and gatherings. I’ve never thought to squeeze grapefruit into my water, but I certainly will give it a try now! Thank so much for sharing, beautiful, and I hope you have an amazing weekend!
