Time for some new in fair fashion! Today I want to introduce you to the brand Monkee Genes, which is not only ethical, organic, and fair; but also vegan! I combined their jeans with a cozy ThokkThokk sweater and a second hand cardigan of mine. But one step at a time…
I chose the organic black sateen from Monkee Genes, which is a mid rise jeans with a little bit of an edgy fit. When ordering I made the classical jeans mistake; I ordered in a size which fits well when putting on the first time, without feeling too tight. However, as every jeans also these jeans slightly stretch when wearing for a while. When I looked at the pictures here, I realized the jeans looks actually slightly too big now, after having worn it for a bit. I hope I learned from this 😀
With the jeans I am wearing a super cozy sweater from ThokkThokk. I love to wear basics from ThokkThokk and I have been sharing a few of their shirts like here or here and I will for sure share more in the future, as I really love their soft sweaters and cool oversized shirts.
I added a black and white cardigan to the look that I found second hand last winter and which somehow never really made it to the blog. Also, I am wearing my NINE TO FIVE belt that I am pretty much wearing every day. The color just goes with everything and I love how it gives this little touch of chic to every oh-so-easy outfit.
I added a little pop of color to this look, as I cannot really do without 😉 as I decided to wear my Monkee Genes as ankle jeans, I put on some URU Socks in two different shades of blue and added some blue earrings too. I guess baby blue is my favorite color next to all shades of blush and I plan to include more of it into my outfits this spring.
On my nails I am wearing some 100% organic and beautifully pastel colored nail polish from Provida which is like my favorite brand for organic nail polishes at the moment (more on Provida and on my nail polish favorites will be on the blog very soon…).
How do you like this (almost) all black look? Can you relate to my jeans problem? It is sooo tricky to find really well fitting jeans, isn’t it? Anyway, I really like these ones anyway, as they are fair and organic. You should give Monkee Genes a try- and I should give them another try 😉
By the way, talking about fair fashion. A while ago I mentioned Honest Rosie in a side note. I want to draw your attention once again to this great project; it is all about creating an entire collection of only six items with which you can create 30 outfits! Are you curious now? I think you should be – it really is so fun to look at the different looks made out of only six items; and it definetly is inspiring. Visit Honest Rosie to see the collection and in case you want to support the project stay tuned for their kickstarter campaign which will launch on March 1!
Have a wonderful week ahead everone! I will be back on Wednesday; with a post on my thoughts on what sustainable cosmetics are… because I realized there is much more to it than just organic ingredients and a glass flacon. So stay tuned for that.
You look super cute and comfy! xx
We should give you a public service award for telling us about good brands like these. Thanks!
I love such classy and relaxed design!

Love this all black ensemble. I really wish to know ethical, organic, and vegan clothing here in the Philippines. As for beauty products, there have been a lot of newcomers in the Philippine beauty industry that are pushing for organic products but for clothing, I haven’t heard yet. xD

I actually like the fit of these jeans on you. Even if they’ve stretched if you hadn’t said anything I wouldn’t have even thought such things!
