It’s been months since my last review post! Today I am back with a review of a brand that I recently fell in love with: Amo Como Soy! Amo Como Soy is Spanish and translates to „I love myself the way I am“. How beautiful is that? That alone should be a reason to dedicate an entire review post to this small beauty label – but there are many more reasons, actually.
The founder of Amo Como Soy, Schareska Antequera de Friebertshäuser was born in Venezuela and many of the ingredients which you can find in the cosmetics line are actually from South America; sacha inchi oil, passion fruit seed oil, patauá oil, buriti oil, just to name a few of them.
I met Schareska last month on a trade fair where we talked for more than an hour about her values, ideas and philosophy. I am amazed by the fact that Schareska does not only want to create cosmetics that make you look great from the outside – she also wants to make you love yourself from the inside!
To help you getting there, Amo Como Soy does not only offer a high quality face cream, serum, face mask and cleanser, but also affirmation cards that shall help you remember that you are beautiful and worth to be loved. Also, on most products, you will be able to find questions such as “what are you grateful for today?” or “what do you love about yourself?”.
Every morning when I use the 24h face cream, I read “what are you grateful for today” and I do think about the answer every single morning, when applying the cream. It definetly makes my start into the day a little brighter!
So the whole line consists basically of a face cream, a serum, a face oil, a face mask, and a cleansing lotion. The products are made for normal and dry skin. I have more of a combination skin and I still got wonderful results using the products (I have been using them for three weeks now).
I used the cleansing lotion both in the morning and night and it took off all make up and mascara and whatsoever really carefully. It is pretty nourishing and sometimes, I felt I almost do not need much more on my skin than what was left over of the cleansing lotion.
I used the serum anyway, every morning and every night, and I really love the results I got from it; a much more radiant skin and less reddening of the skin.
Every morning, I used the 24h cream which is also pretty nourishing but absorbs quickly. Some days I even added a BB cream of top of the 24h cream and still my skin felt light and was able to breath. What I like about the cream is not only the question on the lid, or the effect it has on my skin, but also that it comes with a small spatular. Like everyone keeps always saying how important it is to take the cream from the jar with a spatular, right!? Well, I never had one so I ended up using my fingers anyway. Amo Como Soy helped me out of that dilemma.
Now there are two more points I have to draw attention towards to; first of all the fact that for every product sold, 2€ are donated to a girl’s home in Bolivia! I asked Schareska if her products are fair trade and she was honest enough to tell me that she is not yet able to find all ingredients fair trade. But to give back to the people who make the ressources she is using in her products, she started a cooperation with this girl’s home and donates those 2€ of every product. In case you are able to read German, find out more about this project right HERE.
And finally, a few words about the packaging! All products come in glass jars of high quality and I know for sure I will reuse the face cream jar for homemade face masks and other experiments of mine. The secondary packaging is not made from paper, as most are, but from organic cotton! Every product is put in a small beautiful cotton bag that can be reused for gift wrapping, to keep all sorts of little treasures or to give to play to their children (this is what I did 😉 ).
The holistic approach to beauty, to the environment and to social impact is what makes Amo Como Soy become one of my favorite brands when it comes to beauty products.
The brand is offering luxury cosmetics with a price that reflects the quality and all the thoughts put into the packaging, social impact, philosophy behind and so on. Feel free to check out their shop at amocomosoy.com
